Recently the trust raised funds for, and purchased an A Class passenger car that had been used on Taieri Gorge line. It is currently upgrading the carriage, and bringing it back to closer to its original condition. Most of the work is being carried out by volunteer labour.
The guards van at the rear of the station was a common sight on trains on most lines throughout New Zealand, and certainly they were used on the Little River Branch line. The Trust is currently involved in plans to restore this van to its former glory.
The Flat deck wagon is a converted HC class cattle wagon. The Trust also has an original HC wagon, at present in the goods shed.
The Goods Shed is where inwards and outwards goods were stored. Like Many canterbury structures, it suffered some damage as a result of the 2010-11 earthquake serie. As of march 2017 it is being strengthened and improved, and will form part of future plans for the trust.
The Gangers' Hut at the rear of the station is typical of the buildings that were situated along the lines, to provide shelter for maintenance workers. It has now been wonderfully incorporated into a garden area of beauty.
We will be updating this area regularly with new and exciting projects that might be in the pipeline or underway.
